The personal information we collect
We only collect information we genuinely need to quote, schedule, install and support your security system. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number and postcode from our quote form, or details you give us over the phone
- Property details — property type, site address, access instructions and layout notes needed to design and install your system
- Job records — quotes, invoices, installation photos, warranty claims and support history
- Call information — the phone number you call from, and notes taken during the call
- Technical data — your device and browser type and the pages you visit, logged by our hosting platform for security and reliability (see our Cookie Policy)
How we collect it
Almost all information comes directly from you — when you fill in our quote form, call us, email us, or speak with our technicians on site. Some technical usage data is collected automatically when you browse this website.
If you provide us with someone else's details (for example, a landlord or property manager who must approve an installation), please make sure they are aware and have agreed.
Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- Prepare accurate quotes and recommend the right equipment for your property
- Schedule installations, repairs and maintenance visits
- Process payments and issue invoices
- Provide after-sales support and honour warranty claims
- Contact you about your job, including reminders and follow-ups
- Send occasional service updates or offers — only where you have not opted out, and every message includes an unsubscribe option
- Meet our legal, taxation and insurance obligations in NSW and SA
When we share it
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with:
If any service provider stores data on servers outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
- Our licensed technicians and installers working on your job in NSW or SA
- Equipment manufacturers or distributors, where needed to register or claim a product warranty
- Payment processors, to take payment for your job
- Professional advisers (accountants, insurers, lawyers) where reasonably required
- Regulators or law enforcement, where the law requires or permits it
CCTV footage and surveillance
Once your system is installed, the footage it records belongs to you and is stored on your equipment or your own cloud account. We do not monitor, access or retain your recordings. Our technicians may briefly view a live feed during installation or a support visit, only with your authorisation and only to verify the system is working.
As the system owner you are responsible for using it lawfully. Depending on where you live and how you use it, that can include obligations under the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (NSW), the Listening and Surveillance Devices Act 1972 (SA), and — for business customers monitoring staff — the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 (NSW). We are happy to explain the practical side of this during your installation.
Storage, security and retention
Your information is stored on access-controlled, password-protected systems. Job and transaction records are generally kept for up to seven years to meet tax and warranty obligations, then securely deleted or de-identified.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Email support@aussiecctvcams.com and we will respond within a reasonable period, usually within 14 days. We do not charge for simple access requests.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at support@aussiecctvcams.com and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our services or the law change. The current version is always on this page, with the last-updated date shown above.
